Behind the Scenes
My witchy graphic novel Over my Dead Body is getting a sequel next year. I’ve been hard at work on it in between drawing pages of our favorite princess of crime, Harley Quinn. Here are some sneaky peeks for you creepy peeps!
Featured Original Art
Did you know I have original art for sale?
You can find them all here but I wanted to highlight some of my favorites!
Suicide Squad: Dream Team #02 Cover - $1200
Dreamer getting her own suicide squad team-up was already the coolest, but getting to do covers for this series was even more! I got to play with a different Harley, and we all know how much I love to create a new costume/design. So this was particularly fun!
Sabrina Holiday Special #01 Cover - $750
If you’re here, you probably know that Sabrina has a special place in my heart. With this cover I wanted to feature her in a Santa Lucia garment, ready for the Yule celebration.
I’m really proud of this page, it was the first moment I got to draw both Punchline and Bluebird in their respective costumes!
Go over to Comic Art House for the full list of my original art for sale!
What feeds my brain at the moment?
In a new effort to ditch my phone and spend less time on social media, I’ve been trying to allow myself more time to read, watch movies and just slow down (a little).
First off, let me tell you about my husband and I’s favorite invention “The movie Jar”. Like most of you, every time we had a desire to watch a movie we’d be scrolling endlessly, jumping from platform to platform, with too many choices and nothing we can decide on. So we gathered a bunch of pieces of paper, and wrote down movies we love, haven’t watched, have always wanted to see, classics; anything and everything. Every time we want to watch something, one of us will draw a piece of paper at random from the jar -THERE ARE NO VETOS- what we pick is what we watch. Which has actually really expended our movie tastes, and even makes us appreciate the stinkers ( I’m looking at you The Spy Who Loved me). So here are some of those movies that I loved and have stuck with me.
Girl Interrupted (1999)
The Graduate (1967)
All the President’s Men (1976)
Split (2016)
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Call me by your name (2017)
Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
Being John Malkovich (1999)
Lost Highway (1997)
Death Becomes Her (1992)
I’ve also picked up a few books, trying to find a balance with self help books and some silly fiction as a palate cleanser.Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut
This is a collection of Vonnegut’s short stories published in 1968. It’s fun, witty, and oh so smart. If I had to pick one story to recommend it would be, Tom Edison's Shaggy Dog.
The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt
This book examines how the introduction of social media is completely changing childhood and has made me rethink the impact of social media on my everyday life. I’m about halfway through, it’s not a heavy read but it does bring up a lot and requires you to rethink your relationship with your phone.
Both are available anywhere books are sold so support your local bookstore. (or get them at your local library, and if you’re into audiobooks Libby is a great app that allows you to borrow from your local libraries.)
On the TV/Movies side, I’ve been on a kick of watching Medieval dramas. Lots of gossip, beheading, and cool clothes. Some of the costumes are drop-dead gorgeous.
Thank you for reading my Newsletter, if you haven’t subscribed make sure to do so and come back next month for more exciting news and art!
Keep being spooky!
