Happy May!
It’s still cold, we had another snowfall a couple of weeks ago, I'm DONE with Canadian winter, please.
Although I will miss wearing my bonnet.
My life has been very underwhelming this past month, I wake up, I draw, I eat, I draw, I go to bed. Repeat. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but when you’re finishing up a book and deadlines get tighter and tighter, you tend to become a bit of a robot. I left my house twice last week, and that was unusual, so yeah, I don’t have much going on at the moment.
I’m seeing the end of Over My Dead Body 2, currently inking the last 20 pages, and before I jump onto the colours, I plan on taking a celebratory day-long nap.
Here’s what I have coming up!

Behind the Scenes
What feeds my brain at the moment?
This month, I fell into the rabbit hole of World Masterpiece Theatre, it’s a collection of Japanese anime TV series adaptations of classical books. I’ve watched three so far, and here’s my ranking.
Anne of Green Gables (1979) It’s the BEST, and the english dub is also really good. The dialogue is great, the visuals are gorgeous, and Anne is perfect. But it’s not surprising because it was written and directed by Isao Takahata, the other Ghibli founder. Hayao miyazaki worked under him at Toei Animation, and even contributed scene designs on some episodes of Anne.
The Swiss Family Robinson: Flone of the Mysterious Island (1981) this one was produced by Nippon Animation. The style is much more cartoony than you’d expect, it’s also really pretty and fun. My only downside, and it’s been my problem with most of the Nippon Animation series from this collection is that the dialogue is a little bit more tiresome, it’s a lot of repetition and doesn’t feel very natural. But if you can get past that, you’ll enjoy it a lot!
Tales of Little Women (1989) I have this exact same comment to make about the dialogue on this show. But again, if you can get past it, you will enjoy watching the retelling of a perfect classic story!
I took a bit of a break to rewatch all of the 1960s Bewitched (it’s perfect in the background while I work), but I’ll get back into watching more anime soon!
In the meantime, go outside and enjoy the warmth for me, if you can.

Thanks for sharing all this awesome stuff and I can't wait for a signed copy of volume 2:) that's such amazing news. The mummy cover is totally sweet too! Also, there was this awesome anime I watched when I was really little. It had this tiny character living on a small planet or star and there was a rose or some kind of 🌺 in a glass jar. I loved it. Today, I remember it sometimes when I rewatch The Fountain. I never found out the name but I remeber seeing some of these series during that time. Cheers and thanks:)! ☺️ 🙏🏻
Hope you can get that day long nap sooner than later Sweeney! You certainly deserve it!
Gotta say, that geisha portrait is absolutely beautiful! I love the detail on the ribbons and how her face is mostly negative space. Simply sublime 🥰😍🥰😍
